A Space Worth Staying In

Right in the middle of Nottingham, Public sits inside a former bank building with high ceilings, huge windows, and our open bakery running in full view behind the counter. It’s the kind of space people pop into for a quick coffee and accidentally stay in for two hours.

During the week, laptops are welcome throughout the space. On weekends, we keep things a little slower with dedicated laptop tables, so the rest of the café stays focused on coffee, food, and people actually talking to each other.

Public’s always been about creating spaces people can make their own. Some people come to work for a few hours, some stay for brunch with friends, some grab the same coffee every morning without even looking at the menu.

You’ll find students, families, freelancers, creatives, dogs under tables, first dates, regulars who know the team by name, and people discovering us by accident. We’ve never really wanted Public to belong to one type of person, the mix is the whole point.

Somewhere between the first visit and the fifth, people stop feeling like customers and start feeling familiar. That’s probably the bit we’re proudest of.
